Line Scan Camera for Continuous Industrial Image Processing
A line scan camera is built for applications where the inspection target moves continuously past the camera. Instead of capturing a full two-dimensional frame at once, it captures one line of image data at a time and builds a complete image as the object moves.
This makes line scan cameras especially useful for inspecting long, wide or endless materials such as battery foils, paper, film, textiles, metal strips, glass, printed surfaces and conveyor-based products.
How Line Scan Cameras Work
A line scan camera reads image data one line at a time. When the object moves under the camera or the camera moves across the object, each captured line is combined into a complete image for inspection.
Because of this working method, line scan cameras can inspect continuous materials without image gaps, making them suitable for high-speed production lines, roll-to-roll processes and long object inspection.
When paired with stable lighting, encoder triggering and the right interface, line scan cameras can provide consistent image quality for defect detection, measurement, code reading and surface inspection.
